But I can say this much about my visit. first off to set the stage, I was targeted by my Moms husband whom is extreme narcissist, long story short, I caught him red handed infesting my tiny home with red poultry mites over a 3 year time period on his property, AI conformation, and I have jars full of the mites, my kitten became so infested over and over Anemia set in so bad I almost lost her. So I finally get enough money $500 -$1000 whatever it takes to keep her alive but I definitely need more evidence and proof because I have lost thousands of $ over this and im taking him to Court , my home is non livable 4 months now . The Vet I had received told me its impossible poultry mites do not feed on cats ! And in fact raised her voice at me stating " she also has chickens and they do not attack cats !" ! . Of course I said we'll then I'm not spending my money here , lousy customer service , and I would have paid whatever because I love my cat . Any how here is proof !!!!! Effects on cats and kittens
Documented cases exist of D. gallinae on cats and specifically young kittens living near poultry. Effects include:
Pruritic (itchy) dermatitis, with erythematous papules, crusts, scaling, and lesions often on the extremities, back, abdomen, or other areas.
Intense itching leading to scratching, self-trauma, hair loss (alopecia), and possible secondary skin infections.
Restlessness, especially at night.
In heavier or repeated exposures, blood loss. Young kittens are particularly vulnerable because of their small size and lower blood volume. Case reports of kittens near poultry pens have shown pallor of mucous membranes, lethargy, dehydration, and regenerative anemia consistent with chronic blood loss.d3d2d1
