I'll start with the positive: I truly appreciated that they were able to get my dog in the same day. When your pet needs care quickly, that means a lot.
Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was disappointing. I never had the opportunity to speak with the veterinarian before my dog was taken to the back, and I was not present for the examination.
When I called for an update before picking him up, I asked several questions about his treatment. During that call, the veterinary technician was rude and dismissive. She repeatedly explained information I already understood, and when I tried to ask why, she responded, "If you would just let me finish." The interaction felt condescending and made it difficult to have my questions answered. During that same call, when I asked whether the wound itself had been cleaned, I was told it had not.
When I picked my dog up, the surrounding cheatgrass had been removed, but the wound itself did not appear to have been cleaned. The hair around the area was also still matted. I understand why the surrounding hair may not have been clipped if doing so could have caused additional irritation or increased the risk of infection, but I expected the wound itself to be cleaned and better addressed.
At pickup, the veterinarian never came out to speak with me. I wasn't given an explanation of their findings, what they observed during the exam, or why they chose the treatment they did. Everything was relayed through staff. As a pet owner, I expect the veterinarian to take a few minutes to discuss my dog's condition, explain the treatment plan, and answer any questions directly.
Although the charges were explained over the phone, I was still expected to pay before I was shown an itemized invoice. I had to specifically ask for a breakdown before paying, which I believe should be standard practice.
I was also frustrated that the staff insisted my dog needed an anti-itch medication, even though I repeatedly explained that he had never been scratching or bothering the area. It felt like my observations about his symptoms were dismissed instead of being taken into consideration.
Overall, I left disappointed with the communication and the level of care my dog received. While I appreciate that they were able to see him the same day, I do not recommend this clinic and will not be returning.
