I will never bring my dog back to this clinic.
I brought in my 15-year-old Mastiff for an ear hematoma and repeatedly explained that I was on an extremely limited budget. I stated multiple times that I only wanted care that was medically necessary that day. Despite that, the charges continued to increase until I had spent nearly $500 on services, medications, and products that I did not believe I had clearly authorized or understood.
The communication was unacceptable from the beginning. A staff member repeatedly presented clinic policies and recommendations as legal requirements. I was told certain things were required “by law,” including statements about rabies vaccination and treatment, but no one could identify the actual law when questioned. I believe those statements were misleading and were used to pressure me into agreeing to additional services.
I was also repeatedly prevented from speaking directly with the veterinarian. My questions were routed through a technician who was rude, dismissive, and frequently failed to answer what I was asking. When the veterinarian eventually spoke with me, she was pleasant, but the overall process still left me without basic information about what was being done to my dog.
My dog was sent home heavily sedated, yet no one told me what medication or sedation he had received, what dose he was given, or how long the effects were expected to last. I was not given clear instructions about when to begin the medications they sent home. I had to discover on my own that he was extremely sedated after he arrived home.
The aftercare was equally poor. They placed a pressure wrap around the head of a 15-year-old Mastiff without accounting for the loose facial skin typical of the breed. Within hours, despite my dog doing nothing but sleeping, the wrap had already shifted over his eyes and was falling off. It pushed his facial skin forward, covered his eyes, and frightened him. The clinic said they would explain how to use the replacement wrap, but they never did. When I asked questions, I was brushed off and effectively told I would figure it out.
I was also sold an ear wrap as a new product, but the package contained dog hair. That strongly suggests the product had previously been used or handled around another animal.
The front office was visibly and audibly unprofessional. From the exam room, I could hear staff loudly discussing customers, mocking a caller who had been placed on hold, joking about accidentally hanging up on that person, and then calling the customer back with an apology. Patients and clients should not be able to hear staff ridiculing other customers from an exam room.
My issue is not that veterinary medicine costs money. My issue is that I repeatedly stated my financial limits, asked for necessities only, and still left with nearly $500 in charges, unclear authorizations, no meaningful discharge instructions, no explanation of what medications had been administered, and a head wrap that was improperly fitted and failed within hours.
I left feeling pressured, misled, ignored, and completely unsupported in caring for my elderly dog after the procedure. I do not trust this clinic, and I will not return.
They charged me $56.50 for an ear wash procedure that took less than one minute and they also prescribed a nasty medication that made my cat sick while there are organic solutions that work to alleviate the same problems. This veterinarian is no different than big Pharma for humans. They use nasty drugs so they can charge more. I won’t be back.
I just love this place! Last visit Dr.Krohn met us at the door. He inquired about how Luna my cat handled the ride. He was so cheerful, pleasant and communicated clearly. He also was quite educational when it comes to caring for my new elderly cat.
Luna liked Spencer who came to take her back for a shot. He too was absolutely great.
Emily at the front desk was stupendous as well. She was fantastic when she called to confirm my appointment in addition to being a shining star throughout the entire visit.
